This was I thought a good conversation with @SykesCharlie. We tried to think through some of the points Bob Kagan raised, I hope in a helpful--if not entirely reassuring--manner. https://t.co/VetIA8h5vV
“Axios: If you were in Congress on January 6, would you have voted to certify the election?
Glenn Youngkin: So one of the great things is, I’m not in Congress.”
Profile in courage.
https://t.co/kSRKk5Y1XV
In the VA gubernatorial debate, Glenn Youngkin reiterates his opposition to vaccine mandates. Choice! But kids in schools don't have choice if there’s no mandate and if their teacher isn’t vaccinated. Patients in hospitals don't have choice if their nurse isn’t vaccinated.
And of course a Republican victory in 2024 is likely to be a Trump victory. https://t.co/DDqwH8XXeT
"Perhaps you were under the impression that the political class was comprised of serious people who recognize that we are facing the real prospect of a constitutional crisis. And yet, Congress has chosen this moment to play games of political chicken."
https://t.co/uC4wMTQB55
There is no reason to require a super-majority to raise the debt limit. Quite the contrary. It's an invitation to irresponsibility and hostage taking. So modify the filibuster for the debt ceiling. Then later for democracy. https://t.co/UCYoi23wgu
The authoritarianism is no longer something that occasionally rears its ugly head. It's a central feature of the Trumpist Right. https://t.co/VjfzVj3HVf
“The jump in vaccinations in the days before the deadline gave New York one of the highest rates of vaccination among health care workers nationally.”

It would be dramatic if on Thursday afternoon, just before the end of the fiscal year, Schumer brings the CR/debt ceiling bill back up, VP Harris rules the filibuster shouldn't apply to it, and Schumer has 50 votes to sustain the ruling of the chair. https://t.co/D1tHUitE2v
"How Alarmed Should We Be?"
We should be very alarmed. We can reassure ourselves that American democracy is solid & Trump a 2nd-rate demagogue. But American democracy is less solid than we'd like to think; and a reckless demagogue with a major party in thrall can do real damage. https://t.co/goGzlUx6Mw
RT @thesignal: Is Donald Trump serious about running for office again in 2024? @BillKristol on the future political prospects of the former…
“Trump put his chips on the big lie about the election. It’s now pervasive in the party. That’s an impressive show of strength by Trump. It’s clever, because it’s about him—his victory was stolen…The way to avenge that is to renominate and reelect him.” https://t.co/3yF6AqXNUg
Or if Republicans don’t “allow” Democrats to suspend the debt limit on their own, Democrats could just do it on their own by changing filibuster rules so a debt limit suspension (and a CR, I’d say) can’t be filibustered. No reason they should be allowed to be. https://t.co/0ngrdVH2wn
How can people understand the authoritarian threat "while the Good Republican elites all act as if the real danger to America is cancel culture and radical professors? When most of the Good Republican elites won’t say what they know to be true out loud?"

Another formulation of this argument: In the past our political parties have combined impulses to tear down and desires to build up. Politics always combines those. Now in the GOP, the balance is totally skewed. The GOP is now a party of Destruktion.

For Putin, chaos is a friend, and key to his strategy.
For Trump, chaos is a friend, and key to his strategy.

@JRubinBlogger @RadioFreeTom Wow. Together we really turn out the misogynist Trumpy trolls! Haven't blocked this many folks in ages!
Sen. Fischer basically saying that the problem in AFG pullout was the elected President not obeying military orders.
Huh. It's almost like you could write an entire book about how affluence and peace and high living standards actually create the bored middle classes that end up trying to tear down liberal democracy https://t.co/mGsDnHF1vy

“I should have spoken up more“.
someone should ask her and all of the other memoirists whether they will support the Democratic nominee against Trump if he gets the nomination in 2024. https://t.co/l9BVP08Ciu
@RadioFreeTom 1,000 percent this! I often think about the State Department lifers I worked with —nearly all Democrats, obviously— and how serious they were about foreign policy, about military threats and about representing the flag, not a party.
This was the point I was making early on: That Milley was saying he can't approve orders, but he wanted to know about them. A fine but important distinction. https://t.co/ajYiI3FVaz
This makes Obama's "I'll have more flexibility after the election" seem like savage diplomacy, but at this point, there could be photos of Trump giving Putin a foot massage and Trump supporters would explain why it was a brilliant move. https://t.co/gmiOQ64Fei

@joshtpm But the reason Bagram wasn’t useful is because we would have had to defend it, but if we had to defend it (temporarily) would it have been useful?

One reason I became a Republican back in the 70s was that I thought they were the pro-military, pro-defense, national security party. Today they're more anti-military and more dangerous to national security than any wild-eyed leftists I went to college with back in those days. https://t.co/jUL3IkHx6v

@NGrossman81 look on the bright side, this is how I became a spokesperson
My favorite part about Democrats going after Joe Manchin is that they don't realize that even if they got him to resign over his energy company, he'd be replaced with a Republican.
If Democrats think it's tough to get anything passed now, get rid of Manchin and see how it goes.
@TG22110 @ProssElizabeth @dcherring @RadioFreeTom DON'T ENCOURAGE HIM HIS HEAD IS BIG ENOUGH ALREADY

NEW: Federal investigators have sought records of communications between Rudy Giuliani and 12 other individuals as well as any communications about former ousted U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch, and other topics as part of their search warrants, court filings show.
@PhotobearSam @Nick_Carmody @RadioFreeTom I think it also gives people a thing to be when they're not particularly committed to being anything else. Instant kinship (in a time when such relationships are shaky), instant group identity (without having to do the reading), instant belonging (with fun merch). #justaddwater
@InezFeltscher @RadioFreeTom The propaganda doesn't create the rage. Nor do institutions nebulously "failing" people. The rage comes from within. The propaganda just feeds it and gives them a community where they can rationalize their rage (like blaming institutions) for something other than what it is.
Breakthrough infections for vaccinated people are often mild its true
But a small number, especially vulnerable folks, can get sick
Boosters reduce breakthrough infections and likely slow spread
And that is a good thing
So when its your turn -- get the 3rd shot

@RadioFreeTom he is seemingly knowingly confusing mil advice given last two weeks of august and at earlier points.
@RadioFreeTom I’ve lived quite a while and I can’t remember a time when I’ve been this apprehensive about the future of this country. It will take a complete rebuke of these people on local, state and national levels and I’m not sure that will happen.
@ericowensdc @RadioFreeTom I know the feeling. https://t.co/Bok3OhG9LN

The right-wing attempt to create a scandal around Noem should be a warning - but it won't be, sadly - to everyone in MAGA world that sooner or later the mob turns on its own leaders, and no amount of sucking up to Trump can protect you from it.
So when I said that Kristi Noem was a flag-waving fraud, I got hate mail and unhinged threats for besmirching her honor.
But now a MAGA magazine also says she's a fraud and even had an affair with - *shudder* - Corey Lewandowski.
These guys just as angry now? Or nah?

@BlueBoxDave @GetHappy1979 @InezFeltscher No, I said the TA doesn’t obsesses about the car dealer every day. Do they hate each other? Maybe. But that hate is far more intense out in the auto dealer’s house by 11pm every night.

@BlueBoxDave @GetHappy1979 @InezFeltscher No, that's the conversation you're having in your head, and the one you'd prefer to have with me. Not much more I can do for you here.
@GetHappy1979 @InezFeltscher @BlueBoxDave That's because guys like JD Vance are concentrating on local issues of great importance to Ohioans, like which season of the Walking Dead NYC resembles.
@BlueBoxDave @InezFeltscher Free tutoring is over. I can't do this all day.
@BlueBoxDave @GetHappy1979 @InezFeltscher Right. But audiences from the dozens to the hundreds are, in fact, a better indicator.
You used to be better at this.

@BlueBoxDave @InezFeltscher But again, *within* classes, not between elites and masses.
Dave, move out of New York. :)

@BlueBoxDave @InezFeltscher That's because (if you read stuff I write) conservatives begin from a more uniform online ecosystem. They break fewer conflicting friendships because they start with fewer of them to begin with.

@TimothyAlvis @InezFeltscher Exactly. But it does create a synergy, a feedback loop. It's no different than the FB algorithm that gives you more of what you clicked on.
@BlueBoxDave @InezFeltscher Sure. But I'm telling you that people writing about politics are not the daily experience of Yale TAs in the English Department. One of the things that makes the Trumpers crazy is that they feel ignored by the cultural elites, and they're not wrong about that.
@InezFeltscher I think I've got it exactly right and the goalposts - my contempt for the people who push this poison and my anguish at the people who buy it - is right where we were 20 minutes ago.
@InezFeltscher It's people searching for others to put a label on their inner emptiness and scapegoat others for it. Wealthy old people who want to be told that their rage is not the result of impending mortality but because commie perverts are taking over their beloved America.
@InezFeltscher "If only you worked inside the propaganda machine, you'd see that we're just telling people the truths they want to hear!"
Hard pass.
@BlueBoxDave @InezFeltscher "I talked to them in a diner" is not the deep dive you think it is.
@baseballcrank @BlueBoxDave @InezFeltscher The entire history of American family relationships, circa forever-now
@InezFeltscher @BlueBoxDave And that's why they're cheering on people smearing poop on the Capitol!
Or, maybe, they're looking for meaning in their lives and they've decided that "attention must be paid."
@BlueBoxDave @InezFeltscher I don't think it's purely virtuous on either side, I'm just telling you that one group in America spends a lot of time obsessing about the other - and a big part of that obsession is that their attention isn't returned.
@baseballcrank @BlueBoxDave @InezFeltscher Now THIS I could believe.
@InezFeltscher Again, a comforting thought. Wrong, but convenient.
There's a reason I've spent a couple of years trying to figure this out. I wish I could say I was the first, but Hoffer beat me to it by 60 years.
@BlueBoxDave @InezFeltscher They think it about a lot. They just don't sit around saying "I wonder what a guy who owns an Applebee's in Illinois thinks of me." There is an obsession - fueled by right-wing goons from Ivies themselves - that this is a symmetrical relationship. It's not. https://t.co/nAGicv2Ima

@InezFeltscher @BlueBoxDave Mine are in Cambridge rather than New Haven, so maybe they're different.
@InezFeltscher @BlueBoxDave Huh. Having spent 35 years in education, including several as a TA, and with multiple TAs working for me every year, I will see your "personal experience" and suggest mine is more recent and more accurate.
@InezFeltscher That's an assumption on your part. I save my contempt mostly for the people who feed them propaganda, but I *do* insist they're responsible for their choices. (That used to be a conservative thing.)
@BlueBoxDave @InezFeltscher I don't know how to break it to you that those TAs rarely think about the auto dealers. They're busy. (You might even say that's a failing of their environment; they just don't think about whether a car dealer in Lima hates them, but that car dealer knows where Yale is.)
RT @John47137220: I can't stop thinking about how @RadioFreeTom took so much crap for criticizing Noem and how this is the perfect bookend…
@InezFeltscher If writing a book trying to figure out why so many ordinary Americans have turned into raging nihilists is an "obsession," okay then. Suggest you read it before deciding what conclusions I reached.
@janecoaston @InezFeltscher Of course they do. But the resentment in modern America is about different markers of *status* rather than power. Trump is the avatar here: all the power in the world and yet marinated in resentments about a particular stratum of society that would never accept him.
@InezFeltscher I know that's a comforting thought. It's not remotely the reality of my life - but I understand it helps you to valorize and excuse the well-off people seething with hate for no other reason than their own boredom and emptiness.
@janecoaston @InezFeltscher And yet the guy who owns the dealerships seethes with anger about the writer. In a busier world 30 years ago, he wouldn't care, but now he knows what you write and has the time to send you hate mail.
@InezFeltscher And that well-off auto dealer hates that graduate student for reasons that are never going to be resolvable - including self-hatred - and hates him so much that he'll burn democracy if he thinks it's pisses off a kid in a ratty apartment in New Haven.

Manchin may suck but he's predictable, a known quantity. There's a level of haircut he'll require on recon bill and then it moves forward. It's a matter of finding that number. Sinema, it's become increasingly clear, is a 'calls are coming from inside the house' type situation.
@trvrb @macfound @HHMINEWS Congratulations! No doubt in my mind that your recognition is richly deserved and a cause for celebration. Best of luck, Trevor.
This seems unsurprising and I think OBVIOUSLY the case. Manchin is an obstacle and is going to force the total number down. But Sinema seems like the one who may actually sink everything. She's never been acting in good faith thru the whole process. https://t.co/yXjjgUGY22

@studentactivism Correct. The most maddening thing about this is that the only shot at Sinema winning a second term is if recon passes. Duplicitous is manageable. Duplicitous and stupid is a dangerous combination.

4/ maybe it’s possible to pull it off where they pass the BIF and gave a path to still getting the recon bill. But if it’s just hope and no plan kill the BIF.
3/ Getting stiffed on the recon bill and providing the votes for Sinemas vanity project will show a weakness that will be devastating to the Dem coalition. Better to vote the BIF down. Kill it.
2/ which was: no. No help, no negotiations, no counter. Nothing. This is what I mean by losing well vs losing badly. Choosing the former often means you don’t lose at all. Bush’s plan collapsed. But you can lose in ways that are devastating beyond the immediate loss.
Back in 2004/05 Bush tried to partially abolish social security. GOP controlled the whole govt. they cld do it if they wanted to. Many Dems were saying they had to negotiate, come up with a counter, limit the damage etc. the eventually came round to the right approach …
3/ you’ve got a huge amount of institutional DC that simply doesn’t grasp some of the most elemental aspects of politics. I mean, yr in the politics business and know little about it.
2/ indeed more business friendly Dems in blue areas will be replaced by more progressive Dems. at one level these folks don’t care abt the internal coalition challenges of the Dem party. But more interesting to me is how few even get this at all.
One irony of the moment is I hear repeatedly abt biz lobbyists saying straightforwardly they want the BIF bad and want the recon bill to collapse. That’s ideal outcome. They don’t seem to grasp that if that happens all the remaining “mods” will lose their seats.
this is right. and for various reasons I think it’s better to kill the BIF than to risk BIF and nothing else. If you’re going to lose you need to lose well than lose badly. Getting jerked around with BIF bill is losing badly. https://t.co/TTxircrAHU
2/ mostly it’s game playing. but sinema also doesn’t know policy well enough to know what’s on the bill.

2/ likely improve chances in the general. If you don’t have majority support from members of yr own party, youre basically toast.
As I’ve pored over the numbers, it’s really not a case of whether a primary of Sinema wld weaken the Dem in the general. She’s so unpopular w potential voters I doubt she wld win a general. Primaries are virtually always damaging for the general. This is rare case where it wld ..

@jbouie i pulled together some polls last week. she actually has crazy high approval from GOPs. anyone who isn't an idiot can see she's basically toast with Dems and only popular among voters who like her for fucking her own party over and as you say will never vote for her.
@jbouie there are so many levels of nonsense it's really hard to pick apart. at some level i think she's just an idiot.
@adityasood I don't know about bananas but a lot of things come up about the personality type and interpersonal skills.
@jimlynch9999 @ericowensdc I mean, who knows. She has a reputation of being very rigid and often having an inability to read a room - in the literal sense and more broadly abt the political moment. She's decided this is her ticket and she doesn't talk with people who disagree.
@ericowensdc 2/ needs to inoculate herself from that. This is the best I've been able to come up with from talking to a lot of people in AZ and just observing. But I can't say I know it's right. Just the best I've been able to come up with.
@ericowensdc Truly a mystery. But the best I can figure is that she is trying to carve out a McCain type role for herself in AZ. And bucking her party, not being a traditional lib is what gets her there. Add to that she has a wild political past. So to a degree I think she thinks she ...
5/ lobbyist pals are telling them. Usually that's BS. There's more chicken and egg than that. With Sinema, I get the sense that may be much closer to the truth. In any case, if I were up there negotiating I too would be most worried about her.
4/ But the point is this is her theory and she's pursuing that goal. Her actions have basically nothing to do with actual policy questions. She's using bucking her party to build a story abt herself in Arizona. Generally speaking when people say oh they're doing what their ...
3/ You wld not at all have predicted Sinema wld play this role. She's off on this quest to brand herself the bipartisan maverick back home for a number of reasons. Ironically this seems like a total misread of the political moment. She's probably a one termer.
2/ Let's stipulate: Manchin is super annoying, seldom consistent and a real problem for the rest of his party. But back in December it was easy to predict he'd be playing this role. It basically makes sense in the context of his state, etc etc.

@RobGeorge The influence that TUSK had on DIRTY MIND and CONTROVERSY is just so blindingly obvious to me, but it's one that people rarely talk about.

@senatorshoshana @RSI Here you go breaking all of those cherished traditions all for the sake of progress.
@senatorshoshana All these geniuses out here think she should have drunk the bear urine *without* boiling it? Amateur hour I stg.
@senatorshoshana Isn't there a correlation between Hypothyroid and Crohns? I have Hashi and I thought that was like one of the many bullshit things you may develop...could be wrong though.
@senatorshoshana @SpencerJCox Don’t worry, Shoshana, we’ll get you the best doctors. Then we’ll send you to Kansas or Iowa or some other flat and featureless place.
@senatorshoshana You are going to have to step up your hiking stories now. She has thrown down the gauntlet.
@senatorshoshana Well hey that's good news at least! If nothing else it's surely good for morel.
@senatorshoshana I’ve cover the left side of my rib cage in excel formulas.

@zerohedge I blame @senatorshoshana she has set out to hike up and down everything.
@senatorshoshana I just hope the consent decree has some teeth in it
@senatorshoshana Why didn't you ask for free samples tho
@senatorshoshana Today's policy brief is brought to you by RAID SHADOWLEGENDS. For those who don’t know RAID SHADOW LEGENDS is a free-to-play turn-based RPG that’s got like 15-million downloads over the last few months. Google Play even nominated it for an award for being one of its top RPG’s.
It would be amazing if Sinema's stand on personal/corporate income tax hikes leads to a carbon tax.
If you told someone in 2003 that a former Green Party activist would get the U.S. a carbon tax in 20 years, you would not guess that causal chain.
@daveweigel "Chicago" cost $45 million, made $305 million and was virtually endemic at my high school.
(Also, a fascinating phenomenon is that the fandom for Dear Evan Hansen was HUGE on Tumblr and other sites, which probably led to folks thinking a movie would make cash.)
@AlexNowrasteh Tempting though it must be to unify two storied houses, you probably don’t want to precommit your daughter to marrying the scion of the Underpants dynasty.
🚨OUT TODAY🚨My @CatoInstitute White Paper, "Questioning Industrial Policy: Why Government Manufacturing Plans Are Ineffective and Unnecessary". It's a deep-dive primer on all things IP - what it is, common criticisms & justifications, foreign IPs, etc.

@JLTfromNC @Anastasia_esq @PacificLegal cc: @scottlincicome who may be less conflicted than me.
@daveweigel Also I have a theory that musicals people like and musicals musical theater people like are two very different types of musicals.
McAuliffe says $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill is "too high"
Peter Meijer primary challenger Audra Johnson, who was at the Capitol on Jan. 6, gives us the lowdown on what really happened:

@MollyJongFast The Mustache of Righteousness is a mensch.
I’m still stuck on the idea that trump loved cats the musical.
@EsotericCD (A small child once pointed at me and shouted “Daniel tiger Daniel tiger!” so I obviously went home and watched four episodes)
@daveweigel because Hugh Jackman is incredibly unspeakably talented and "Dear Evan Hansen" is not about what anyone thinks it's about?
“The Republican Party is an anti-democratic, autocratic force.”

That's a highly specific idea for how to score things. Where did it come from?
Background from Against the Grain last week:
“Democratic Moderates Could Save Biden’s Presidency -- If It’s Not Too Late”
https://t.co/bhVUO0e1tA
This was always the only option for House Democrats:
“Speaker Nancy Pelosi is reversing a months-long vow to push through the two major planks of Democrats’ domestic agenda in tandem, a huge shift just days before a critical infrastructure vote.” https://t.co/lJpqK4okU4
Greg Abbott ran for office like Glenn Youngkin and governs like a Donald Trump. Youngkin will do to Virginia what Abbott has done to Texas.
We cannot allow another #TrojanTrump.
Embarrassing — on many levels. https://t.co/35dioU6JDA
A divided GOP is the best chance to accelerate their demise — and our work helps fracture their party at every opportunity.
Help us keep at it as we wind down this quarter: https://t.co/7rjiOa0HJI
Ahead of tonight’s #VAGov debate, Republican @GlennYoungkin was caught on tape bragging about ending Virginia’s vaccine mandate for public employees:
“I can remove the mandate from state employees. That’s one thing I can do, legally — I can do on day one.”https://t.co/EPDf9CBLef

RT @reedgalen: Vaxxing and masks for me, but not for thee, eh @GlennYoungkin? #vagov
All across the nation, Republicans are taking steps to make it harder to vote.

@scottlincicome I’ll prolly can a jar just to see how it goes.

@scottlincicome I’ve been playing around with my grandmothers canning set up.

@scottlincicome Thanks,

Questions on your Melt Your Face Off jam if you have a moment.
Did you can a batch?
Did you change the recipe to do so?
Just a hot water boil? If so, for how long?
I have extra juice from making them - I strained out the pulp.
Do you use the juice? https://t.co/9cxByJSjgc

@scottlincicome aren’t you currently feeding a little person who can be trained to clean?
@nickgillespie @veroderugy I asked, but we lack the technology in-house.
@scottlincicome @veroderugy Disappointed that Uncle Sam isn't flexing while the Statue of Liberty cries in the background.
@scottlincicome @nickgillespie @veroderugy if only there were a friendly firm out there that helped CATO and others with excellent visual design, compelling video, and strategic communications
#Libertarians are the Schrodinger's Cat of politic, irrelevant to serious folks yet forever haunting all current debates. Maybe we just live our own lives, raise our kids, and thus inspire envy to those trapped in played-out tribal identities, like @DouthatNYT. https://t.co/egbcTFgaRP

Bizarrely, @DouthatNYT says libertarians demand "absolute certainty" that @instagram has a bad impact on kids before "you start thinking about limits on how kids use it." Parents can do that now. If he wants to ban it for them via law, just say so. https://t.co/RzxlFCSCWy
@sarahemclaugh Your commitment to reaching out to the odd, off-putting, questionably dressed mascot of a beloved institution is admirable.
The Ways and Means reconciliation package includes a small pare-back of the TCJA's tax on returns to large university endowments, yet I have seen absolutely zero right-populists talking about how the Build Back Better plan includes "tax cuts for Harvard."
C'mon, this is easy.
@ahardtospell Easily dispelled after 5 solid minutes of doomscrolling wonk twitter during happy hour.
One mistake people often make is thinking that higher intelligence translates to better control over irrational instincts or thought processes.
Continental Congress to Nathanael Greene after the winter at Valley Forge:
"So far, you've been lucky that the Continental Army has not faced a significant logistical crisis. You are a dangerous man to hold the position of Quartermaster." https://t.co/ExNYF52Mo1
Lotta people on Twitter finding out that even really smart people they mostly agree with are not immune from ideologically or politically-motivated nonsense
@EsotericCD @Political_Beats Excited for the Michael Jackson episode. It’s super interesting that he’s the undisputed all-time biggest pop music star and yet there isn’t much critical analysis of his actual music.
Alex: “Hey kids, what do you want to name your baby sister?”
Little boys: “Baby Giganto!”
I had really hoped that the Psaki quote had been taken out of context. That doesn't seem to be true.
Tax incidence, explained, by Joe Stiglitz: https://t.co/LOLueCQEbO https://t.co/bPsnzLKy92
@TheH2 @scottlincicome @_Peter_Cook "dead" giveaway?
I think I see what you did there.
The issue was about not wanting to transfer power and not be seen as weak. But the anecdote is a reminder of how much energy was expended on what turned out to be pretty small stuff throughout four years
In most parts of the country, we have achieved these goals and it's primarily thanks to the vaccines https://t.co/DsaqAzzATu

@MattGlassman312 It's really not complicated. Democrats got themselves into a major jam on their agenda and the schedule and GOP isn't throwing a life preserver.
Since he's been out quite a bit lately, enjoy this pic of Boris the British Blue from up the street. https://t.co/adEh0kpibI

@scottlincicome So my choices are between a kid hopped up on sugar or a kid mellowed out with a bit of weed?
This is a much tougher choice than most parents are willing to admit.

Great moment from Skyfall, guest directed by Bob Fosse. https://t.co/lvmBmMejcM

An observation to reckon with. https://t.co/pzCiSLhWlw
The omission of “Baby Got Back” is … Eric, how can you succumb to such philistinism? https://t.co/UQBFDFVn3z
@jaynordlinger Ambrosia with raisins and green jello with shredded cabbage.
I don't really trust language. Language is a slippery thing that can fit itself into whatever shape is desired. It slips through the crack under a closed bedroom door and rifles through all the drawers and cabinets.
I know the feeling…when I became naturalized we went straight to @redrobinburgers. It was one of the best burgers I have had! #uscitizen https://t.co/135wqZMHBe
Yeah, this is the low hanging fruit — school and health care workers. And yet… https://t.co/eg9WDAbJ1g
I don't agree with this. Of course we know corporate taxes impose a burden. But given that the distribution of that burden relies very heavily on uncertain assumptions, seeing analysis of individual provisions separately is helpful. https://t.co/kUMumHp7qI
Dems: Tax Cuts ‘Cost’ Us, but a $3.5 Trillion Bill Is Free https://t.co/e3N4uXpR2p
Happy birthday @bobhardt. Gonna get you a copy of a campaign buzz column
@scottlincicome @nberpubs Privatization fixed a lot of crap.
The thing that raised eyebrows (at least mine) is that the table (and how the table is presented) seems to be evolving as Biden's pledge is evolving.
Rough optics, at the very least.

@scottlincicome @nberpubs GP I want nanobots they can inject into me and clean out my arteries, lower my blood pressure, get rid of my beer gut, and basically turn me into a bronze Adonis.
Like Dog the Bounty Hunter.
1. It sure looks to me like @TaxPolicyCenter is abandoning its longstanding rules for scoring tax plans in order to find a way to make the Biden tax pledge true.
As far as I can tell, they have never before excluded excise taxes in this way.
https://t.co/hrttgKXuFf
3. But excluding excise taxes on things that low-income people buy, as TPC does here, seems pretty much the sort of thing that you would do in a distributional analysis *only* do if you were trying to go for a desired political effect.
The "business" TV networks are ostensibly for serious people with real jobs.
But in practice they're comically terrible and you're better off reading some weird guy with an ugly wordpress blog about housing startsr.
This is business TV at its finest. Just watch. https://t.co/J7N3kaZk3U
@LoganMohtashami @HousingWire So you just... troll people about finance entirely for fun, really?
Incredible. Dream job
@LoganMohtashami @HousingWire How can I get your job of trolling the "bubble bros" about housing? It sounds like so much fun!
Nobody wants to live in DC unless they're required to, and remote work meant they were no longer required to. https://t.co/RDOUbqqFuh
Please tell me he responded, "That's right! Chair...Woman. I *am* dangerous." https://t.co/rZHJUk6Cn1
@scottlincicome @_Peter_Cook Are these really “laced”?
Maybe it’s just me, but the big marijuana leaf on the package seems like a dead giveaway.
Actually, senator, the study’s author speculates the pro-work effect came from a feature you voted to abolish:
“Zheng speculates that the pro-work effect of the CTC derives from its phase-in structure… $1 in earnings translates (post-credit) to $1.15 in total take-home income.” https://t.co/8JRSeDMRb9
@scottlincicome It’s what your followers think you do all day.
@scottlincicome I bet I could get that thing to stir my roux.
